Local History Exhibition The local history exhibition called CROSSROADS was opened to the public in 2003 when Nyékládháza was granted all the rights of a town. The exhibition can be seen from 10 am. to 3 pm. every weekday on the first floor of the Egry-Szepessy castle, but an appointment should be made at the Community Centre (54 Kossuth St.) or via phone (46/591-253). To give you a foretaste, we present a few pictures taken at the exhibition where you will get a full picture of our town's history right from the beginnings until the present day. There are several pictures, detailed descriptions, original documents and even archeological finds for you to see. In the same room different temporary exhibitions are also organized.
The art of Clara Lenz Clara had been travelling a lot since her early childhood, she went on tours around the world several times. She enjoyed everything she saw and was especially captivated by the beauty of exotic cultures. She loved visiting museums which she regarded as the treasury of historic, cultural and artistic values of each country. Her experiences made her record her impressions in the form of tapestries using her own special technology. Her works are very lively and colourful, thanks to the special threads and paints she used. She enjoyed living in her own world, the way she liked it. Her exhibition in Nyékládháza Clara Lenz decided to present "the village of her father" with 20 of her original works which you can see exhibited at the Community Centre (54 Kossuth St.). A Madonna picture can be seen at the Roman Catholic church as it was built and sponsored by her father. Her great-grandfather and brother are buried in the crypt of the church.
