"The Wine Route of Bükkalja"

Nyékládháza is one of the 13 members of the association called "The Wine Route of Bükkalja". The aim of the association is to make wine and country-tourism more popular in the region, to give people opportunity to taste local wines in an organized way and to make people acquainted with the traditional Hungarian cuisine and folk traditions. Bükkalja offers you a very special atmosphere, a tranquil harmony of nice slopes, spectacular cave homes, rows of ornamented wine-cellars, traditional folk houses, old trades and crafts, museums, spas, and of course, most importantly, fine wines!

Take a nice walk on Szőlőhegy and taste our fine wines

Szőlőhegy, alias "Hill of Vineyards" has always been known for its great geographical conditions for growing grapes and making wines. Wine production always helped Nyék to get on its feet again after the great devastation of wartimes. On Szőlőhegy still you will find lots of traditional vineyards, wine houses and wine-vaults, which you simply cannot miss to see when visiting our town! From the top of the range you will get an amazing panorama of the whole town and countryside with all the surrounding blue-watered lakes. When the air is clear, you can even see the huge volcanic cone of Tokaj Mountain which is world-famous for its fine wine and old Tokay production. If you click on Panorama, you can see nice panoramic pictures of our town made at the top of Szőlőhegy.

Annual Wine Competition of Nyékládháza

The town organizes its Annual Wine Competition for local wines each year in April in our "Clinking Park". Don't miss it if you are nearby!
